Alison McGrandles

Alison McGrandles is a former Scotland Women’s Rugby Union Internationalist, playing in the first-ever women’s international rugby match against Ireland at Raeburn Place in Edinburgh in 1993.

She was a pioneer in women’s rugby, starting playing with Stirling County RFC mini’s in the early 1980s playing alongside Kenny Logan, Gareth Flockhart and Mark Mckenzie. In her playing career, she played 50 times for Scotland.

In 2022 she was honoured as a famous daughter of Stirling by being named Chieftain of the Stirling Highland Games. Several publications covered the story including the Daily Record and Whats on Stirling network.

In 1993, she was recognised as a Scotland Internationalist and her name was added to the Honours Board at her club Richmond RFC.
