Monument Performing Arts School

Monument Performing Arts School is a centre based in Stirling, Scotland that offers SQA qualifications in Acting, Musical Theatre and Dance. MPAS provides quality training in the three main disciplines of the performing arts, with courses ranging from National 5 right through to HND. RAD and ISTD dance classes are also available through the centre and various outreach branches within the area.

Monument Dance Centre was founded in 1983 under the name Monument Ballet School by Louise Murray. In 1992 the school the school got a permanent location in Causewayhead in a converted barn, after which it was renamed Monument Dance Centre.

The building has continued to expand and in the 2000’s multiple outreach branches were opened across the Stirling area.

MPAS was founded in 2009, focusing on all aspects of the performing arts and helping young people to gain qualifications in Singing, Dancing and Acting. This began with Higher Dance and continued to grow when NPA in Musical Theatre and NC in Acting and Theatre Performance were introduced not long after.

In recent years MPAS has continued to expand, adding more SQA courses to a now comprehensive list. The 2013/14 academic year saw MPAS’ very first full time curriculum, with our HNC Musical Theatre course.
